This model was made using Maya 2016 and Substance Painter 2. The model uses PBR textures exported in 4K.

The model was created and unwrapped using Maya 2016, then I textured the model using Substance Painter 2, the textures are using a PBR-Metal-Rough with Alpha Blending shading model. I used Alpha Blending so that I could put a glass panel across the dial at the back of the model.

Overall I am happy with the way this model came out, however I have a few changes I would make if I were to redo this model, for example, the textures on this model are exported in 4K this is because then UV unwrap I did for this model doesn't take advantage of all the UV space (I could have rearranged the UV shells better to give each polygon more pixels on the UV map. The poly count for this model ended up much higher than I originally wanted, so if I were to remake this model I would try to bake some of the fine detail to reduce the poly count.

How was this made?

This is the UV map I created in Maya for this model before exporting my model to substance painter.

Fallout Style Raygun

This a concept for a weapon that used radioactive isotopes to create deadly bursts of radioactive material.

The concept draws the majority of its inspiration from the game series fallout, I also wanted the model to follow a 50's retro technology theme. The weapon draws its power from the silver cartridge at the back.
